“Before joining Jonell’s Journey, even though my family supported me, I still felt a deep sense of hopelessness. I had heard so many horror stories, and after losing my dad to cancer, the thought of me having cancer was overwhelming. Fear consumed my heart, and my mind raced with endless “what ifs.”I’m so grateful a close friend introduced me to Jonell’s Journey. At first, I didn’t accept the invitation because I wasn’t sure what the group was really about or whether they would truly be in my corner. There are so many support groups that promise to help but end up doing nothing. But joining Jonell’s Journey finally gave me peace and the understanding that everything was going to be okay.Being part of this incredible support group has given me the emotional, physical, and social support I desperately needed. No matter the time—day or night—I can call Yolanda, the founder of Jonell’s Journey, and she always answers. Her first words are always, “Is everything okay?” That alone lets me know she and the board genuinely care about my well-being. Whether I need a shoulder to lean on, a word of encouragement, or someone to pray with me, she is always there.Yolanda and the members of Jonell’s Journey check on me weekly to see if I or my caregivers need anything, and if we do, they make sure we receive it quickly. You know you have an amazing support system when they write all your appointments on their personal calendars, pray for you before, during, and after each appointment, and call to see how everything went and how you’re feeling afterward.Most people—including family—say, “Let me know if you need anything,” but when you call, there’s always a reason they “can’t.” Not Jonell’s. Lord, I am so thankful for this support group. They help in ways most people wouldn’t believe. They provide food, drinks,medications, and will even pay a bill if the need arises. Tell me—how many support groups do that? Jonell’s Journey is truly a saving grace. God knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it, and He sent me this group. When I joined, my entire mindset about support groups changed. They are more than a support group—they are family. I feel a sense of belonging, a sisterhood, a group that stands firmly behind their mission: “You will NEVER travel this journey alone.” And I know without a doubt that I never will.So if you’re looking for a faith-based, God-fearing, prayer-warrior-filled support group—one that will call you by name, fight for you, and make you feel like you matter—Jonell’s Journey is the group to join. You will not be disappointed. You will be blessed.

This foundation means so much to me. Fighting cancer is soooo emotionally, physically, and financially draining. Receiving a simple card in the mail, a how you doing text, a card for a meal, an offer to drive to appointments or simply prayers means so much. Mrs “Jonell’s Journey” took time out of her day fighting with cancer herself to offer support for me and encourage me. Many think that when you are finish with liquid chemo that you are done. From personal experience that is not the case. I pray that I can be a blessing to someone else fighting this battle as well. To the individuals that have supported this vision THANK YOU!!! I have not been able to post as much as I would like as I just had surgery Tuesday.
